  1. The ecomomic recession has affected my parents. They both work full time. My mom is a preschool teacher, who usually has no openings and a waiting list for a year in advance. My dad is a carpenter and he only has work lined up until February. I believe these two factors are directly coorelated to the economic recession.

  2. The economic recession I feel has affected my family, but more so my friends who have graduated college in the recent years. Many of my friends with a degree from a well known college are finding it nearly impossible to find a job, let alone it be in the area they majored in. Many of them are going back to grad school now while there are no jobs available, and many are doing temporary jobs that they can find wherever, or substitute teaching in their local school system. I think it is very interesting to think about how so many individuals who were previously employed do not have jobs now, but how there are many more individuals coming out of college now with no where to work.

  4. I have two friends who were not able to return to Lesley this year because of money troubles. I am sure that the recession had something to do with this since their parents had been able to pay until the recession.

  5. The recession greatly impacted my family, especially since my parents are divorced, money troubles have seriously affected our lives. The only way i could have come back this year was through the help of a scholarship, and through luckily finding work throughout the summer. however, money is a very tight thing, so the holidays are going to be much more money savvy this year than before.

  6. My family has been impacted greatly by the recession. Money has been extremely tight and our lifestyle has changed. My dad works in sales and his income is almost nonexistent since the recession. This is hard because he was the person in our family who provided the solid income but now we do not have that anymore. Now my family can barely pay the bills and we are just getting by.

  7. This recession has in fact affected my family in a profound way. My father owns his own small electrical company and due to the current economic times like many other small buissnesses he is suffering. my mother works for my dad at the company so to increase income for our family she was forced to find a second job. The effects that we have been facing are difficult for us to deal with since we have never had to go through anything like this before but we are lucky that this is all we are having to deal with. Many families are loosing much more. Homes, security, 3 meals a day, more and more poeple are suffering. Because of the lack of income alot of families are giving up things such as health care and insurance in order to afford other things that are immediatly needed. this crisis is taking a strong hold on this country affect all classes of people.

  8. Just as everyone else has said, the recession definitely has an impact on my family. My parents are currently paying for my tuition, my apartment, my brother's tuition, his apartment, and my sister's tuition, on top of everything that they have to pay for themselves. My dad owns his own company, Ginseng Hill Nursery, which is a landscape architecture company. This means that he only works in the warm, nice weather. This, along with my mom's income, was enough to support my family, Since the recession, this year in particular, my dad is looking for a job in the winter to help make ends meet. He will most likely have to give up coaching basketball so that he can take up a job, but that's just a sacrifice that he has to make for his family.

  9. The economic recession has effected my family greatly. My father has experienced job loss after job loss as every time he joins a new company, they soon need to down size. Also, since the price and standard o fliving has raised, and our family income has not, my family has experienced very hard time. Not to mention paying for the rising college tuition has also been a difficult task.

I feel as though the recession has had similar effects on amy other families below the upper class line. Also, since the "scare" has been introduced, many employers have started to become more frugle with their profits and more likely to downsize instead of re-strategizing.

  10. The recession has a similar affects on my families like others. Its been hard. I feel that my family finds ways to save money not going out to eat at restaurants. My mother is constantly reminding us not to spend our money carelessly. It's frustrating sometimes, but its something that we have to do.

  11. My family has definitely been affected by the recession. My mother had been working full time and was actually bringing in a little more money than my father, so when she passed away my senior year of high school, my dad was now the sole breadwinner in my family. This event plus the current recession definitely caused us to have to not buy as much and cut back on some of the lururies we used to enjoy. Not only has it been literally financially difficult, but it has also been exetremely stressful. My father's job was laying off people almost every week because of the recession, so he would go into work everyday wondering if they were going to lay him off or not. This was extremely scary because he has worked there for over 20 years and having to deal with finding a new job in the time we are in, on top of the other things going on in our family, is just a lot to take on at once. It is sad to think that there are so many other families out there are experiencing the same things that I have experienced or even worse. My dad has luckily held on to his job and we are managing with everything that has gone on. I have even been able to hold on to my job over breaks during this recession which is amazing and allows me to help support myself and help my dad out. Even though my dad and I have struggled with some things because of the recession, there are definitely many people out there who are going through a much harder time than us which is so unfortunate and sad.
